Winter in the mountains offers the incredible setting for Covenant Heights’ Winter Trailblazer retreat. With snow on the ground and the lake frozen over it is time to bundle up and head outdoors.
Winter Trailblazer is a weekend retreat for kids age 8-12. Throughout the weekend we offer all kinds of winter activities and faith-filled experiences as we enjoy God’s beautiful creation. A couple of the highlights of the weekend include the cardboard sled races and the Saturday evening party.
Last winter we held the first annual cardboard sled race on our sledding hill by the lake. Each cabin group made a unique cardboard sled using cardboard and duct tape. This year we want to make the race bigger and better! A longer race and more materials for the sleds are sure to make this second race a hit.
The Saturday evening party features activities such as crate stacking, gaga ball, bounce houses, dessert bar, and more. Kids won’t want to miss out on this; it only happens at Winter Trailblazer! However, this huge party isn’t the main event at Winter Trailblazer.
The goal of Winter Trailblazer is to give kids the chance to grow closer to God. To accomplish this, we bring in awesome speakers for our chapel sessions. This year, Curt Vogt from Christ Community Covenant Church will be are our Winter Trailblazer speaker. To partner with Curt, our summer worship leaders, Brian and Chanel Rushing, are coming in to lead worship for the weekend. These chapel sessions will become the high point of the weekend as kids worship God at Winter Trailblazer.
Over the past year God has done incredible things through Covenant Heights and our camp programs. We look forward to another great year as we kick off Covenant Heights’ programs with the Winter Trailblazer weekend. I can’t wait to see you there!
