We are so excited to be fully underway with the Standing Stones Campaign!
This is an awesome opportunity -- to honor our legacy, to embrace the future, but more importantly to make a difference in a child’s life!
For the past year, the staff and board have been working diligently to raise support for this historic time for Covenant Heights. Through those efforts, over $910,000 has already been contributed and committed to help launch this thrilling $3.185 million campaign.
Now, we are asking YOU to join us. We hope you will make a sacrificial gift, along with us, so that we can provide all of the wonderful improvements that will guarantee powerful ministry for another generation.
BUT WAIT -- Here's the real reason this is so important; you can impact real lives in real ways:
“Camp was always a special part of my life growing up and I pray God will work in the lives of these precious children, like he did in mine.” --Patty Miller, camper, donor, volunteer
Lily’s Story and How Camp Put a Smile On Her Face
"One of my campers, Lily, was just 7 years old. She was small, cute, and… seemed determined to make the week a BIG challenge for me as her counselor.
I remember how she would wander off, interrupt, ignore me, and I started to wonder how such a beautiful little girl could drive me so crazy.
Amidst the chaos, the bible studies became a refuge in which this girl disclosed that her mother had breast cancer and did not seem to be winning the fight. She never said much about it, and really didn’t seem to want to. It was heartbreaking.
Friday arrived and it was almost time for parents to arrive. I realized Lily was on her bed silently crying. She told me that she didn’t want to go home because ‘Mommy isn’t Mommy anymore.’ We sat together while she told me more of her story. We sat in silence.
Finally, I prayed for strength for both her and her mom.
When her mom arrived to pick her up at the end of the week, they shared a beautiful embrace. Then the mother told me, ‘I could tell how much fun she was having at camp from the pictures! With me being sick this summer, I haven’t been able to get out and do anything with her. It warms my heart to see a smile on her face. Thank you! God bless you!’
A week at camp allowed this little 7 year old to put aside her sadness for a moment and gave a parent peace of mind that her child was still able to enjoy the opportunities she wasn’t able to give at the moment.”
Moments like this are Standing Stone moments, and you have the opportunity to give this kind of joy and transformation to a child.
